I was younger then
I had nothing to spend but time on you.
Bon Iver
This comes from a cover I posted a while back that I can’t stop listening to. Just a really nice little lyric. I’m alright.

The mind is beautiful because of the paradox. It uses itself to understand itself.

Saccadic eye movements are ones in which you quickly dart your eyes around in different directions. However when our eyes move, there is a quick blur between the two images we are seeing.
This blur is incomprehensible to our brain, so what the brain does, is erase it from our memory. This void is then filled with the image of the next thing we see. This is known as Saccadic Masking.
So the stopped clock illusion, is that when you first dart your eyes to a clock with a second hand, or digital display of seconds, the first second you see is actually longer than the ones that proceed it. This is because the time it took for your eyes to go to the clock is replaced by the initial image you focus on of the clock, in your brain.
This is the basis behind many optical illusions such as this one:

Notice if you don’t move your eyes whatsoever, the image remains stationary. But as you move your eyes, even tiny distances, saccadic masking replaces the patterned circle with a slightly differently orientated one that gives the impression they are turning.
Even a stopped clock shows the right time twice a day.
“Museums, cemeteries! Truly identical in their sinister juxtaposition of bodies that do not know each other.”
Marinetti ‘Futurist Manifesto’

Can’t you see I’m letting go,
I’ll take with me what you left to burn.
Ben Howard
I love Ben Howard, he somehow always manages to write songs that I totally can relate to and manages to present them to me at the exact right time for me to notice. I heard “The Burren” which is an unreleased single of his at a live performance. Soon as I heard this lyric I scribbled it down as quick as I could because it is perfect for me right now and It feels good.
Why come here to start a fire?
So a friend asked me to make a list of my top 10 albums of all time. My chosen criteria was a complete amazing album, one in which you couldn’t skip a single track. The type of album you put on repeat for days on end without becoming sick of it. Some of these albums are from my past and are included because they really have shaped who I’ve become. There were so many close calls but this is what I’ve come up with. With thanks to a little help from iTunes for ordering by play count!
In no particular order.

Ellie Goulding - Lights/Bright Lights

Ben Howard - Every Kingdom

The Maccabees - Wall of Arms

Charlie Simpson - Young Pilgrim

Bayside - Bayside

Paramore - All We Know Is Falling

Green Day - Dookie

Kanye West - Graduation

This Town Needs Guns -This Town Needs Guns (Split CD)

Death Cab For Cutie - Narrow Stairs
If you listen to any of these albums now because of this post, thank you. I hope you enjoy/have enjoyed them has much as I.

Such a clichéd line now, but that doesn’t take away from it’s beauty and truth.
Times new roman is another cliché in itself, so it works.

Welcome to one of one hundred million blogs on Tumblr.
If you where to randomly visit a blog on tumblr, there would be a 0.00000001% chance you would end up on my blog here reading this.
Couldn’t resist putting that sweet degree of mine to good use.

I fought the wolves of patience, just to let it lie down.
Ben Howard
I’m so sick of being let down, and being cut off from every girl I seem to have feelings for. I hate it when you find people have literally ‘deleted’ you as a friend in both online and in real life. Ouch, I feel sick.
Anyway, I never this little line never really stuck out to me until recently. I definitely can relate with this right now.
Amazing artwork from someone I follow, so thank you for this.
Two tattoos one read “No Apologies”
The other said “Love is Cursed by Monogamy”
Kanye West
This song lyric has been in my head all day. And after watching some lectures on the human brain, and specifically love, I’m thinking about the second one.
I’d love to think this is where he got the inspiration for the lyric.
I think Monogamy allows love to grow deeper, not curse it.

You can’t start a fire, sitting around crying over a broken heart
This gun’s for hire, even if we’re just dancing in the dark.Bruce Springsteen
Never really listened to Bruce, as he’s way before my time. This song came to my attention through a Ben Howard cover. Amazing lyrics.
